YOUR CHILD AND CONSTIPATION

Child is called constipated when he or she have-
1) less than three bowel movements in a week,
2) Difficulty in bowel movement
3) Stools are hard, dry & Unusually large.

CAUSES

- Less fiber rich fruits & vegetables can cause constipation.
- Children become constipated when they are switching from all liquid diet to solid food.
- Children may Ignore the urge to have bowel movement.
- Consuming too much of dairy products can also cause constipation.
- Children who eat a typical fast food diet those are constipated frequently.
- Stress can also lead constipation like problems at home or Starting at new school.
- Child is not drinking enough liquid each day.

SYMPTOMS

- Pain or crying during bowel movement.
- Abdominal PAin & cramping.
- Nausea & Feeling of fullness of abdomen.
- Blood on the Toilet paper or Bowel movement.
- Stool in Children's Underwear.

- Increase the amount of liquids for your child
- Feed your child a variety of high fiber foods.
- Help your child to be active.
- Set a regular time each day for your child to have a bowel movement.
- Develop a regular meal schedule for your child.
